Monthly favorites are probably some of my favorite kind of posts to write about. I can’t wait until I’ve been blogging a little bit longer and can see the trends of what I favor seasonally the most. Or even just tracking the blogger trends, since sometimes it seems like we all love the same thing at once.
I know this little tube looks tiny, and it is, but it does pack a punch. I picked up the Benefit Gimme Brow in light/Medium at the VIB Rogue sale last month, and it’s been givin’ me on point brows almost every day since. It really offers a great subtle fullness to your brows due to the fibers in the formula, and is great at keeping the end result in place throughout the day. I still like defining my arch with a brow pencil before using this, but I wouldn’t mind using this by itself either. Which is another thing I love about this product, depending on what you use it with, it can be a pretty versatile addition to your arsenal. Tone wise, it’s pretty ashy and cool. Best of all, no crispy brows to report.
This is something that has been in my stash for quite a while now. I stopped using it initially because it barely departed any color, and then wasn’t even that long lasting on it’s own. I’ve since started using it as a base color in conjunction with some other lip products, and have been loving some of the combinations I’ve found. The CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain I have is in 435 Flirty Nude, which is absolutely stunning with the L’Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire (specifically the shades Nude Ballet and Coral Encore) used over the top. Then once the top coat inevitably wears off because I am always drinking something or other, I have a slight tint left over until I can get to a mirror to reapply the original look.
BARGAIN ALERT: You guys this stuff is under $5. Naturally it found it’s way into my basket, because ‘hey, what’s a fiver’. This has probably been my most used product all month. Not only does it actually cut blow drying time down immensely for me, but it doesn’t make my hair feel sticky, has a wonderful scent, and works just as well as a heat protectant spray for straightening/curling. I honestly like it way better than some of the higher end brands I’d been using. It’s currently on sale at Ulta for $4, so I’d def recommend picking up some of the L’Oreal Blow Dry It Quick Primer Spray if you use heat styling regularly at all. The only way I could love this more is if it came in an aerosol misting can.
Speaking of aerosol misting cans, I also recently discovered the Mark Hill Defrizz-ilicious Bedazzled Anti-Humidity Shine Spray (cough mouth full). Having naturally wavy, dehydrated hair, even when I straighten it, if it happens that the air outside is even slightly damp, straight my hair will be no longer. Giving a spritz of this post-flatiron definitely gives my hair a bit more longevity before needing a touch up. It also applies pretty dry and isn’t too shiny (unless you use way more than is needed – think about the same amount of hair spray you’d use to tame flyaways). After giving this a run through, I’ll brush it in a bit and be out the door. I really wish I would have discovered this sooner, but it’ll definitely get used a bunch this season.
If you’ve tried sheet masks before, then you might not be foreign to the idea of having to sit on the couch not moving while trying to rip the eye openings a little wider so you can actually see the TV. After discovering sheet masks of the cotton variety and loving them despite the trial and tribulations associated with them, I had desperately wanted to try some of the hydrogel ones. Especially since the hydrogel options have been touted to be more effective at delivering the main ingredients to the skin than the prior. I’m not sure why or how, but I will say that they don’t slip and slide post application as much. Furthermore, the two part application makes it much easier for it to fit on your face, and the larger openings for eyes/nose/mouth are a great boon too. The formula specifically for the Boscia Charcoal Pore-Minimizing Hydrogel Mask isn’t too drying for a charcoal based option, and leaves my skin feeling great after 30-45 minutes. I have a couple of these stock piled, and know I will use them and need to repurchase even more soon.
