I may have a beauty box subscription problem. Sample Society? Check! Beauty DNA? Check! Ipsy? Check! If I could actually justify getting more of these per month, I probably would… Three already seems a tad much, anything more than that just seems excessive. Guess I will have to convince Alex to get BirchBox and live vicariously through her!
I will admit, I pretty much stalk Ipsy’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feed to see what sneak peeks they post, and as soon as my Glam Room goes live I HAVE to log in and see what I’m getting. It does ruin the surprise a bit, but I like thinking of all the new looks I’ll get to try out when the bag arrives. Plus I love how cute the white and orange polka dot case is, it almost reminds me of those pencil bags I used to use in elementary school! Now onto the samples – this month my bag included:
➥ Coastal Scents Shadow Palette Sample
➥ Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
➥ Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner
➥ Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
➥ Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo
I wasn’t too terribly excited about the Coastal Scents shadow palette, I’d gotten a very similar palette a few bags ago and ended up giving it to a friend. The pigment is decent and the colors are pretty, but the packaging is just a hassle for me and it just deters me from using it. I forgot to swatch them, but if anyone is interested in seeing the colors, let me know and I’ll post it on Twitter + Instagram.
I was, however, very excited to get the Urban Decay Perversion sample! #MascaraJunkie. I just counted the number of mascara tubes in my makeup bag, there are 8 of them. 8. That is not counting the pile of others sitting on my bathroom sink because they can’t fit in my bag. Regardless, love this formula, and the brush. I’m not sure if I like it better than the Jane Iredale one I got in my Sample Society box, but it’s still pretty great. It’s voluminizing, lengthening, and the color is blacker than black! It definitely holds true to the ‘Bigger, Blacker, Badder” tagline. I like how the brush bristles separate my lashes so they don’t look too clumpy either, especially with the thicker formula.
The Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner just has a fun name. Beyond that fun name, its super nourishing, not sticky in the slightest, and you can smell/taste the ginger. I love ginger anything, so this was more of a perk for me, but if you are more ginger-averse you may want to get a different flavor. The original flavor that I have is Mandarin Green Orange and Ginger. I just looked at the site, and you can also get it in Vanilla Coconut Cream, or Vegan Winter Mint. On top of that, it’s 100% natural and certified as organic by the USDA. I like this stuff, and while I’ve only ever finished two tubes or so of lip balm as I usually get distracted with trying something else, I may actually be able to finish this tube.
I vehemently believe in dry shampoo. I have frizzy, wavy, color-treated hair that I abuse with heat tools way too often. Cutting down on the amount I actually have to wash it, so I can save my hair the damage of having to blow-dry + straighten/curl + etc…. is a necessity. I probably wash my hair every 3 or 4 days, relying on that dry shampoo spritz to carry me through day 4. My current favorite up until now has been the Batiste Dry Shampoo in the blue can, I think it’s the cool and fresh labeled one, but not sure. I’ve tried other Klorane products and have loved them, the Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk was no exception. I actually just ordered two of the full sized cans since I am almost out of dry shampoo besides the sample… The scent isn’t over powering, the nozzle disperses the product evenly, IT ABSORBS SO QUICKLY, and it doesn’t leave that build-uppy residue feeling. This was a hit the ball out of the park product.
The Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo, is actually quite sheer when you apply it, despite it looking so pink in the bottle. It’s nice for a sheer illuminator, but I’m just not big on the whole dewy or shimmery look. In fact the only shimmery highlighters I’ve liked have both been powders (Laura Mercier’s Matte Radience Baked Power in Highlight-01, and Too Faced’s Candlelight compact). I’m not really going to use the rest of this on my face, but think it might look nice mixed in with some body lotion.
