I originally picked up the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue because I wanted to streamline my travel beauty routine. I didn’t want to carry around a specific sunscreen for face, a primer, foundation, etc… I just didn’t have the room for that. I also wanted something that wasn’t too expensive that had pretty simple packaging (ie no glass bottles that would easily break). So I picked this up at Ulta about a week before I left on my Africa/London trip.
As a cool light to medium with pink undertones, picking out the right shade is hit or miss for me. As it is, when I first bought this I was in between the two cooler toned shades (01 & 04). However, I was thinking that I’d probably get to see some sun while I was in Africa and it’d put me more towards the 04. I’m glad I made that choice, and it means that it’ll be the right color for going into summer too.
Swatch wise I left a line unblended on the left side of my hand right next to a blended in line on the right. You can almost still see it because of the shine, but the color blends in very naturally with a bit of a dewy look. Coverage wise I’d say it’s a light to medium base. It will definitely even out your skin tone, but you might want to use a dab of concealer for under eyes or problem areas still. It sinks in and blends out really nicely, and lasted for most of my day out in Africa in “Ethiopian Summer”, so I’m pretty happy with it’s longevity.
It’s safe to say that this is actually my new everyday base, and I don’t see that changing with summer getting closer and closer. I mean, who likes wearing heavy primers, a full coverage base, set with powder foundation in 90F weather? No one. That’s who. Especially since I’ve been using it regularly my skin feels way less dehydrated and dry. The texture also feels a little bit lighter, and a lot more breathable, than other BB/CC creams that I’ve tried before.
Have you tried it yet? Do you have a different “all-in-one” go to product?
