I finally have enough products to justify an empties post! One of the hardest things for me is to actually use a product until it is gone. The beauty industry in general comes out with so many products all of the time, and wanting to try them all makes it hard to stick to just one for any significant length of time. Occasionally I will only be able to use a product a few times before deciding it’s not for me – so it gets tossed or distributed to someone who it’ll work better for. So I’m pretty stoked that I was actually able to fill up the little bag where I keep my empties.
What: Origins Super Spot Remover
Repurchase: Yes.
Thoughts: I absolutely adore this little bottle of amazing. I discovered it sometime during my first year at college and have had at least one bottle on hand since. I do find that it works better once the blemish in question comes to a head, but it makes such a difference in size and duration of healing. You don’t want to use too much as it’s quite drying, but it does the job nicely.
What: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original
Repurchase: Maybe.
Thoughts: I have come to the conclusion that I have mildly oily lids. They aren’t too bad if I’m just doing a simple look, but if I want to break out a cat eye, I need a lid primer or it’ll slide off down the side of my face. In general, I really like the Urban Decay option, and I know I prefer it to Elf’s option, but unsure if it works better than other like products. I’m working on a tube of Too Faced‘s lid primer right now, and if I don’t like it as well I’ll just go back to the Urban Decay.
What: Tarte Maracuja Oil
Repurchase: Maybe.
Thoughts: I really liked it, but I have so many little tubes of facial oil lying around my bathroom countertop that it doesn’t warrant repurchasing just yet. I did love it as a moisturizer when I got my last tattoo though!
What: Fekkai PRX Reparatives Intense Fortifying Masque Indulgent Repair
Repurchase: No.
Thoughts: It smelled really nice, and it did make my hair softer. However I didn’t like it nearly as much as the hair mask from Eva NYC, which feels more hydrating and cheaper – like twice the product for half the price cheaper (found here).
What: Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
Repurchase: Yes.
Thoughts: I’m pretty sure this is a dupe for the other makeup remover that I love, Clinique‘s Bi-Facial one. You shake it up to mix the two layers, apply to a cotton pad, and then remove makeup. It’s the only thing I’ve found (aside from the Clinique) that will take off my waterproof mascara + liner, without making me feel like I’m washing my eyes with acid.
What: Miracle Skin Transformer
Repurchase: No.
Thoughts: I really liked the whipped consistency of the formula, it would apply really nicely without dragging the skin. However, I just feel that the coverage is a little too sheer (and streaky) for what I’m preferring at the moment. It feels more like a mattifying primer with a hint of tint (sorry not sorry).
What: Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray
Repurchase: Maybe.
Thoughts: Seeing as I have pretty naturally wavy/curly (Type 2A) hair, I don’t need a beach spray to necessarily get those beach waves. However, I do like the texture that I got from this and it wasn’t too drying compared to the others I’ve tried. It’s something I’d use on my last day before shampooing again, just for a bit of a different look + volume. I also love how the bottle locks, so you can travel with it for touch ups if needed. I’ll probably get it again sometime closer to the summer.
What: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
Repurchase: Maybe.
Thoughts: I love this setting spray, the only reason I might not repurchase this brand in particular right away is because there is a NYX version of it that I like just as well. Though the NYX is slightly more drying, so if you are avoiding that, go with the Urban Decay.
What: Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant
Repurchase: Yes.
Thoughts: I know I know I know. I really should avoid deodorants packed with parabens and aluminum, but it just works soooooo well. I really like the smooth solid finish of these because it applys and absorbs nicely! I apply a light layer at night and then in the morning and haven’t found anything else to work as well. I always have at least one backup under my sink ready to go.
What: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
Repurchase: Maybe.
Thoughts: This was the first cleansing oil I ever used, so the fact that I used such a big bottle of it says something in itself. It has a little thicker consistency than some of the cleansing oils I’ve used more recently, so you have to use a bit more product at a time. However, I’m still testing out some other options to see which types of cleansing oils I prefer – it’s still in the top 3 so far that I’ve used though and I’ll probably revisit it again soon.
