EVERYTHING IN MY TRAVEL BEAUTY GO BAG

One beauty habit I can really give my mom credit for is having a dedicated beauty go bag for travel. Any time we had a trip coming up, out came her pre-packed, PVC (so ahead of her time), makeup bag. Filled with travel-size versions of everything she used on the daily – and a little emergency kit too. It really streamlines the entire packing process more than you’d think.

The makeup bag itself is this cute little vinyl bag from Violet Grey. I love that it has a double zipper that encompasses three out of the four sides, which makes it really easy to find and access everything in it. Also, it’s very easy to clean in case there is a leak mid-flight.

TRAVEL FRIENDLY SKINCARE

I have a pretty extensive skincare routine, and I like maintaining that during travel as well. When possible, I’ll buy a travel kit of my favorite skincare brands, and then refill the little travel drams/containers from my full sized products when I run out. I’ll usually throw in some of the deluxe samples from Sephora, Dermstore, or Ulta purchases that you get with the promo codes too – re: mini sized Glamglow facemask that is the perfect size for about a week or two away.

TRAVEL FRIENDLY BASICS FOR A FIVE MINUTE FACE

I always try to keep the basics for a five-minute face on hand. Starting with base, one of my favorite foundations is the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Longwear Foundation Stick. It has one of the best shade matches for me, applies very creamy and is very easy to blend out with either fingers or a brush. Plus it has SPF in it. The Urban Decay Waterline pencil is my go-to favorite since it doesn’t transfer, stays put when you want it to, and comes off easy with cleanser when you don’t. A good everyday fragrance mini, right now I have a deluxe sample size of Tocca Florence, but any mini you have will work. Blush, highlighter, and bronzer minis can also double as eye shades in a pinch too. Other musts are a mini mascara, and both neutral and bold lipstick options – I normally opt for a good nude and a red.

SHEETMASKS, FOIL PACKETS, BLEMISH PATCHES

I am 100% that person on the plane that will wash their face and pop on a sheet mask mid flight. Yes, I have scared small children on accident, but the flight attendants usually get a kick out of it. I also try to take enough extras with me for any seat mates that also want to try it out.

I only wash my hair about once a week, so I can generally get by with a few of those shampoo/conditioner foil packets instead of the larger travel sizes.

The little acne patches are also great for travel. With all of the bacteria floating around in airports, the circulated airplane air, and other potential pollutants – I usually end up with a blemish or two during the whole ordeal. These little ones I picked up from Urban Outfitters are super cute and are great at pulling out the gunk.

AND THE REST

Travel friendly makeup brushes are always good to have on hand. Mine are a mix of a specific travel sized set, and little extras that come in those favorites kits every once in a while. Duck clips, hair ties, bobby pins, and any other misc hair items that don’t take up much space but are really convenient to have on hand.

Taking my everyday electric toothbrush with me is a little cumbersome, but love the option from Quip since it is compact and is easy to switch out brush heads every few trips. I tend to get a little puffy when travelling, so love having a jade roller accessible to help encourage lymphatic drainage during and after flights.
