One of the high street brands that I was most excited to get my hands a swatchin’ while I was in London was Gosh (check out my other UK hauls here). Yes, Gosh has a website, and yes you can browse and see everything they offer. However, it’s a bit like looking at Cupcake recipes whilst you’re on a diet, as you can’t actually buy from it. I know I know, why not check out Amazon you say. But it seems like too much hassle for drugstore makeup.
I walked out of Superdrug with colorful forearms, a bit lighter of a wallet, and a few items I had been eyeing from across the pond. Amongst my basket full of goodies was the Forever Eyeshadow sticks in silver rose and brown, the Primer Plus+, and the Eyebrow Pencil in 03 greybrown.
The thing I like the most about these eyeshadow sticks is that they are twist up & no pencil sharpener required. Mostly because I seem to lose makeup sharpeners like people lose socks in the laundry. Seriously, where do they go? The silver rose shade (see swatches below) is perfect for an inner eye highlighter, while the brown is a great shade for an overall base. Both colors are a little bit on the cool side though, and unfortunately do not go that well with any of my spring themed lipsticks that I’ve been dying to wear lately. That being said, they pair so so good with a classic nude lip and really class up a balm.
Blending wise, they smudge pretty easily with fingers but to get that nice feathered look around the edge I still suggest using an eyeshadow brush. Definitely use an eye primer before swiping these on. I forgot to one morning and even though the color was still vibrant enough, by lunch time my crease was very apparent. Overall, for £6 each – and even less than that if you take advantage of the buy one get one half off promo that usually goes on- I’m pretty happy with them.
Next up is the Eyebrow Pencil, which I just absolutely adore. Like have zero complaints against. I picked it up in the lightest tone I could find, which was 03 greybrown. The pencil itself is really quite soft, so you don’t have to press too hard to get the perfect amount of color. Even though it’s still a shade or too darker than what I’d like, it’s nice and ashy/cool toned and blends like an utter dream. I also adore the little spoolie on the end. Plus the fact that the spoolie also has a cap? Love.
This primer is pretty much the reason I wanted to check out any of Gosh’s products in general. I can’t say whether it’s very rejuvenating or not, but it does create a lovely, smooth base and does feel more hydrating than a normal primer. Not hydrating enough to skip moisturizer of course, but what is added is really nice if you have drier skin like myself. No dry patches for my foundation to cling to, it doesn’t make my foundation pill at all, and it adds enough longevity to my base for the day. As much as I love it, I probably won’t jump through the hoops of trying to order it over here as there are plenty of domestic drugstore primers to choose from. But if I’m in the UK again any time soon, I will most definitely stock up on some bottles.
If you’re in the UK, you lucky duck you, you can just pop into a Superdrug and plop these in your cart to your heart’s content. If you aren’t you can find the Eyebrow Pencil here, and the Primer Plus+ here. Unfortunately, Amazon does not have the Forever Eyeshadows in stock anymore. Bummer. Have you tried any products from Gosh before, how did you like them?
