Blogger Cliche Bingo has taught me that I need to stop mentioning how behind I feel in the year during every one of my monthly favorites intros. I need to accept the fact that my internal clock will never be caught up and it will always feel like it’s three months previous than it actually is. Bottom line: time flies, make do.
Do you know what I love? Cheeky makeup bags. Sometimes I even love them as much as the contents inside. This is one of those no fuss favorites: sturdy canvas, zipper doesn’t get stuck or randomly opens, and it’s roomy enough for your makeup of the day. The only hard part was picking out which Jac Vanek pouch I wanted, because the brand is seriously on point with their sassy sayings.
I picked this up on a whim. Did I need new hand lotion? Absolutely not – I already have like 10 half empty tubes floating around that I’m desperately trying to use up. But I stumbled across this at my favorite Boutique on 23rd and the tester won me over. I’d already decided to buy it on scent alone before I realized how amazing the ingredients were. Seriously though, the scent is sweet smelling but natural and not overpowering. The Naked Bee holds up to it’s name – no parabens, no mineral oil, no phthalates… And chock full of organic aloe, sunflower oil, honey, and hyaluronic acid to boot.
While I’m not going to testify to the science behind Sole Serum, I will at the very least vouch for amazing anecdotal experiences. Basically, it’s Lidocaine for topical pain relief, tea tree oil, peppermint oil, and lavender oil. So obviously smells nice – which is nice if you’ve been dancing in heels all night in itself. Lavender & tea tree oil being natural bacteria killers doesn’t hurt either (so long smelly feet). I took this little bottle with me to Vegas and boy was it delightful to have. While the best course of action is to buy shoes that fit you well with the best arch support you can find (or add), even the comfiest of heels will start to be a pain after 5+ hours. I will probably never wear heels again without making sure I have this in my bag.
I’m surprised Benefit’s Puff Off hasn’t made it into my favorites before. Starting off with that it’s not a concealer and won’t cover up dark under eye circles. However, if you do need that extra coverage, you can use this over the top of your normal concealer or underneath it as a luminizing primer. Mostly it’s just a nice little product that is incredibly soothing, cooling, and brightening.
I’ve always been one to favor oils during the summer over body butters. They just feel a little bit lighter to me and give my body a nice little sheen without making me overheat. The Avène body oil smells like the woods on a summer day, earthy and wonderful. The consistency is in the perfect middle area where is isn’t too runny but still spreads around evenly. In the mornings I use a pump or two of this after I shower, and in the evenings I do a light layer of lotion and then apply a light layer of the oil to lock it in over night.
