I have finally been able to see what all the fuss is about with the Popsugar Must Have box. It’s different from Birchbox or Ipsy in the sense that instead of deluxe samples, it has a variety of full-size products picked out by Popsugar’s editor. Because of the number and size of the products, it does cost more. However, you are able to just order a single month’s box, or buy a few months at a time.
I really liked the variety of the products that they included in the box. Right now I have so many cleansers, I’m not sure I’ll ever make my way through them all. So getting a book and some gummy candies? LOVE! Then again, fruit snacks are pretty much my favorite kind of sweets. I totally didn’t mind getting a copy of Judy Blume‘s new book, In The Unlikely Event (hardback may I add). Once photos were done I promptly sat down with my cup of coffee and started reading. I got pretty into the book, even finished all 416 pages before falling asleep. It’s not particularly gripping in that you can’t put it down, but her writing is just so easy to read while still managing to develop the storyline and characters. Without giving much away, the book is about the plane crashes in Elizabeth, New Jersey during the 50’s – from the perspective of a high school aged girl. It’s all about the impact the crashes had on the community while also intertwined with a coming of age story. Very true to the author’s usual style (found here).
This is the only thing included in the box that I haven’t used yet. Not that I disliked getting a $30 voucher for Sweet & Spark, I just haven’t found anything in my budget that I love in stock yet.
Oh Pacifica. Have I mentioned how much I adore their eye liner pencil in Fringe? I’ve gone through so many of them that I’ve actually lost count. Though with as many times as I’ve worked the pencil down to the nub, I haven’t had much of a chance to try any of their other products. Enter the Enlighten Eye Brightening Shadow Palette (found here).
Shades left to right are Skinny Dip, Coral Sand, Golden, and Urchin. While I’m not too fond of the golden shade, I have found myself using the purpley Urchin way more than I thought I would. It just looks so nice in the crease. On the whole, I really like the quality of the shadows for the price. They feel really soft going on, and blend well, but there is a bit of a fall out issue. The Coral Sand shade in particular gets a bit messy around the pot / cheek fall out area. Though it’s easily fixed by doing your eye shadow first, especially if you pair it with an eye mask at the same time.
Honestly, the scent of this is absolutely amazing but super strong initially. I would walk into my bathroom and could smell it from my sink – though I’m not going to complain about my bathroom smelling like papaya. It reminded me of being on vacation! I like that there is a pretty decent exfoliating element to the sponge – it’s not course enough for it to be irritating to skin, but you feel like it’s working. Switching from a cleansing oil to body wash was a little drying to my skin, but since I’ve been using the Clarins Sunscreen Care Oil Spray (found here) for my sunscreen lately I really feel like the Spongellè Body Wash Infused Buffer (found here) is able to get off all that residue.
These lasted all but five minutes after I took pictures. I’m not sure if the Snap Infusion Supercandy had much of an effect because at the time I was drinking my third cup of coffee that morning. However, I do like the idea behind them – packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and electrolytes? Especially while not being too high in calories. I did prefer the sour gummies to the regular ones though. Kinda reminded me of Sour Patch Kids. I could see myself keeping a few in my gym bag. Apparently they also have them available in tarts, caramels, and jellybeans too (all found here).
I’m not one for hairbands while I work out, I find that bobby pins work much better for me. Though where this Yogitoes Peacock hBand (found here) did come in handy? During face masks. It’s great at keeping all of my baby hairs and flyaways surrounding my face out of the goop. I may even start using peel off masks more often.
My absolute favorite of the box though were these Mandate Sunglasses from Quay Australia (found here). The frames fit my head perfectly, which is something in and of itself. I really like the matte black finish to them. I’ve been wearing them everywhere. Plus I love how little room the pouch takes up in my bag compared to regular glasses containers.
While I really liked this box, I don’t think I’d subscribe to it monthly just because I already have the three other subscription boxes I subscribe to. But, I can see myself ordering it every once in a while as a treat. If you think the Must Have box is a must have, you can find it here. What are your favorite beauty subscription boxes? What do you like most about them?
