So word through the grapevine is that this will be the last month that Allure’s subscription box will be called Sample Society, and come July it will change to Allure Beauty Box. It’ll be interesting to see what changes – if any besides just the name – occur. But for now, I’ll enjoy my last Sample Society box as I know it.
Since I’ll be heading off to Vegas for the weekend, I’m saving my little bottle of CoTZ Face sheer matte finish sunscreen for my travel goodies. However, I have pretty high hopes for it after trying the brand’s Flawless Complexion face sunscreen in my last birchbox. I’m especially looking forward to the fact that the new bottle supposedly has a matte finish – plus the summer heat of Vegas will be the perfect test to see how well that holds up?!
I think having Zoeva brushes have completely spoiled me… or have at least made me incredibly biased when it comes to makeup brushes. The Elf Small Stipple Brush felt pretty soft but wasn’t too dense bristly wise. I ended up gifting this to my mom since I think it will be a really nice blending/finishing brush for her.
I pretty much painted my nails with the Lauren B. Beauty nail polish (in Polo Lounge Punch) immediately after I took the main photo for the blog. I used the Formula X nail system with it, and four days later I’m still smudge/chip/flake free. Plus I love that the berry color is still warm enough to be acceptable for summer! Apparently it’s eco and vegan-friendly, but what I like is how quickly it dries and how easy it is to apply.
Oh do I love me a good leave-in conditioner! I really like how the lightweight eSalon Perfect Ending‘s formula is while still adding extra moisture back into my wavy-dehydrated-hair. I rake about a quarter-sized amount into my hair before going to bed each night. It absorbs quickly, doesn’t leave my hair greasy, and has a really nice texture to it. I might use the accompanying coupon code to buy a full size of this once I’ve used it all up.
The Completely Bare Wax Strips remind me a lot of the Bliss Poetic Waxing Strips I’ve used for the past two years (though I have switched to using an epilator in the past month or so). I do really like the wax strips though, they’re pretty standard and easy-to-use: just warm them up in your hands, peel apart the two sides, apply in direction of hair growth & pull off in the opposite direction. Then again, this is really the only way I can wax at home. I tried the jar/soft wax kind once and that was an absolute disaster…
St Tropez makes some mighty fine self tanner. The Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse is no exception. As I’m starting to run low on my other self tanning products, this came in perfect time for me to bronze up before the weekend. I definitely recommend applying this with a tanning mitt to minimize streaks/stripes. I like to apply this before bed and wear breathable leggings / t-shirt so that if it does rub off a bit overnight – it won’t do so on your sheets. That being said, I don’t think it takes too long to sink in – I’m sure we’ve all had that awful experience at one point or another where you are basically held hostage by sticky self tanner, where you can’t sit down or let any part of your body touch (I not-so-lovingly refer to that as the hostage-gingerbread-man dilemma). It has a fairly standard self-tanner smell to it – could be better/could be worse. Expect before / after pictures on Instagram or Twitter later this week.
