I got this cute little L’Occitane bag of goodies for Christmas. While I am a huge fan of their amande collection, I haven’t had the chance to try out much else besides some of their hand creams until now.
It’s just an all around little handy bag full of a full size soap bar, travel sized shower cream, body lotion, and two types of mini hand cream tubes.
I am just not a solid soap/bar soap person. They usually end up being too drying for me. Same case for the Bonne Mere (Milk) Soap. While it smelled absolutely lovely, it still left me feeling like it sucked all the moisture out of my skin. That being said, it was no where near as bad as some of the other soaps I’ve been subjected to. I still prefer a liquid body wash though.
Though the Shea Butter Ultra Rich Shower Cream? Freaking amazing. Not only is it utterly nourishing for skin, you can also use it for your hair in a pinch. Even being detergent free, it has a light, natural scent to it due to the shea butter and coconut base. Which also means it’s gentle enough for those with sensitive skin, and is hydrating to boot. I’m actually planning on getting a few of the smaller sizes of these as gifts for some family members that have psoriasis or eczema.
The Ultra Rich Body Lotion is very nourishing, but also light enough that it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave that sticky feeling to it. I have so many body lotions laying around my bathroom currently that I really don’t see the need to repurchase more any time soon, however the mini size is just what I want to be able to take with me when I travel. Something reliable that I know won’t be too irritating or overly greasy.
I’ve used the Shea Butter Hand Cream numerous times before. I’ve gotten the travel sizes included in a bunch of favorites collections from Sephora, or I get a box of the trios as a gift. I really like how nourishing it is, but it takes FOREVER to absorb. I almost exclusively use this at night because if I use it during the day I can’t do anything for a while. One time after applying a bunch post-shower, with how much steam there was and how greasy my hands were, I effectively got myself stuck in the bathroom because I couldn’t turn the handle. At least until I thought it through and just opened the door with a hand towel. Probably not my finest moment. The Shea Butter Foot Cream on the other hand (or should I say foot?), I’d never gotten the chance to use before. It smells amazing, the mostly lavender scent is a much appreciated note compared to the generally peppermint scented foot lotions I’m used to. It also doesn’t absorb very quickly, but is great to slather on and put some socks over.
While writing up this post, I noticed that L’Occitane expanded their Shea Butter line to include their recently launched Cleansing Oil and Toner, which I am now dying to try.
