The hardest thing for me about beauty blogging has always been using something long enough or frequently enough to get a good grasp on what you think of it. Companies are constantly coming out with the newest and greatest, and while I try not to get caught up in the hype as much, I still end up switching back and forth between all the products I have in a given week.
Hence the reason why I’ve had these photos since March and am just now getting around to writing up my verdict. By the time I remember that I need to sit down and draft something, I can’t remember what I thought of it. One of the reasons why it’s been difficult for me to use these on a day to day basis is that they just are not transport friendly. While the packaging is quite pretty, it is also clunky and is better suited to the top of a vanity instead of in a makeup bag.
The first thing I noticed about the Mally Perfect Prep Poreless Primer is that it has a really interesting texture to it. It’s very spongey and bouncy, but glides over your skin quite effortlessly. You also don’t need that much product to get a really good foundation for your base. One of the things that I really like about it, is that it is not sticky or tacky feeling in the slightest.
I did find that overall I had much better results when I made sure that my moisturizer had completely sunk in before moving on to priming. So if you’re using a heavy duty hydrator, you should go do something in between to let it settle. Start the coffee machine. Dance around to a nostalgic Spice Girls song. Do your hair. Idk, whatever you normally do in the morning.
The Face Defender is actually really really cool. It’s a non-powder setting powder. It also has a really cool texture, and it leaves a really smooth and silky finish that is anything but cakey. Though I would say it has a learning curve. As it’s ridiculously easy to use a little too much, which will leave you looking splotchy. Just lightly tap the sponge on the gel powder and pat that on. It won’t look like much, but trust me it’ll be enough. Layer if you have to, but it’s much easier building up to the amount you want than it is getting rid of the over added patchy look. That being said, it is probably one of my favorite setting products right now because once you get the hang of it, it works really, really well.
I’ve actually really enjoyed pairing these with my Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation. The combination lasts really well throughout the day and didn’t require any touch-ups after a few hours.
