March marked my third Birchbox, and I’m so happy that I keep getting products from brands that I hadn’t heard of yet. For me, the thing I like about subscription beauty boxes is being able to try products I otherwise wouldn’t have known about. And to keep a variety of sample sizes laying around because they are handy as all get out.
For this box I got some hand/body lotion (which smells divine), a lip gloss pencil, blowout spray, clarifying shampoo, foil packet of a hair mask, and a small sample of a tinted moisturizer.
Up first, we have the Elite Therapeutics Rosemary Eucalyptus Body Crème, which smells absolutely divine, but takes a while to sink in and isn’t as hydrating as I’d hope for something this heavy. The scent does linger for a while though, which is the biggest plus for me, as it just smells so soothing. I wonder if they make a candle of this… (Edit: They don’t, but Williams Sonoma has a Rosemary Mint candle for $20 here).
I am becoming way more into lipsticks/glosses lately, and seeing as I have way too many nude/reds/berries that work perfectly for Fall and Winter now, I’m a bit limited in my choices for the upcoming season. Enter the Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in Perfect Kiss. It glides on really nicely, and leaves a nice feel to it once applied: a little slick, but not sticky, and just moisturizing enough. It has pretty great staying power too. I also LOVE that it’s a twist up and not in pencil format! Holla!
Bottom line, I adore this color & formula, but need to wait until I’m wearing more springy colors as it looks super weird with the cool tones I’m still wearing. I’ll be breaking this back out when it’s warm enough for sun dresses!
I am going to preface this with the fact that I had read some pretty rave reviews prior to giving the Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray a go. Maybe it’s because I started with such high expectations, maybe it’s because the hair primer I’ve been using is just equally as good as this one, but I felt a little meh about it. It’s a great product, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t feel like it lives up the it’s reputation. It feels a little sticky going on, but doesn’t stay that way post blowdryer. I think this is the first time in forever that I’ve used my wet brush and actually had to work through knots – something I didn’t have to do with the Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Primer as the brush just glided through… Though you can use this on wet or dry hair, and I had a little better results using it on dry hair for touch up straightening/blowouts. The biggest plus for me was that it doesn’t weigh my hair down, so the volume that I am able to manage, stays pretty well if I don’t bog down with other product.
After switching to mainly sulfate free shampoos, I’ve had my eye out for a clarifying shampoo to use every couple of washes to get rid of build up. So the Number 4 Clarifying Shampoo was a welcome addition. It had a really interesting scent to it, and I’m not sure how to describe it other than you will either love it or hate it. It takes some work to get it to a manageable lather, and a little more product than suggested, but it did tackle my build up of dry shampoo / texturizing sprays while leaving my hair super soft and light.
I was pretty excited to see The Number 4 Reconstructing Masque in my box after having spent so much time in the circulated air of the airplanes recently. My sinuses were dried out, my skin was dried out, my eyes were dried out, and in like format – so was my hair. It was in need of some TLC. I was a little sad that there wasn’t just slightly more in the foil packet as I was just short of being able to coat all of my ends, but it smelled really nicely and got the job done regardless.
First of all, can we talk about how awesome the packaging is for the Mèreadesso Tinted All-In-One Moisturizer sample? Not only is there more than a couple uses packed into this little sachet, but IT’S RESEALABLE! I also love that it kind of pushes up, so I’ll be able to get all of the sample without having to cut into some difficult tube. On to the actual product you say? Alright. It has an aloe base, which my sometimes sensitive skin loves. The coverage is fairly light, but can be buildable. While the medium is the right shade for me, the undertones are a little too neutral for my cool undertones – so I’ve been combatting this by setting it with my Besame Violet Setting Powder to counteract the yellow tones. If I didn’t have crazy amounts of foundations/tinted moisturizers all over the place right now, I’d probably just purchase the full size.
