As you’ve noticed, the past couple weeks have been sprinkled with documenting my shopping spree up and down Bond and Oxford street from my last trip into London. I tried to break it up so that it would be easy to read, and now that all the main brand/store posts are up, here are the last bits and bobs.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet
I picked up these in the shades Hot Pepper and Happy Nude Year. Before even going into Boots I knew I wanted to find Hot Pepper. I’d seen Anna from VDM mention it in one of her videos a while back and I needed it in my life. I’ll admit, I bought the second just for it’s name.
Both shades dry to a matte finish and have a pretty standard length of wear. Both shades ended up being a bit too warm for me to use them right away, but I’ve been using them more and more now that we’re getting into more summery weather. Hot Pepper especially. It’s just the perfect pop of color. Most UK drugstores have these available, for the rest of us you can get them on ASOS here.
Black Amber Rollerball from Zara
Sometimes I just can’t help myself with those little additions that surround the checkout lines and registers. This little rollerball was less than a fiver and smelt sooooo good. After being in Africa without bringing any perfume with me, I needed a little more fragrance in my life. I feel like the scent dissipates quite a bit throughout the day – but that also might just be a rollerball thing since by nature they are more alcohol based than standard scents (Or so I’ve heard – if it’s otherwise definitely let me know). Especially when it’s a rollerball of EDT. But for the cost, it’s easy enough to just reapply if needed because the scent itself is lovely.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Having seen a bunch of British Beauty Bloggers absolutely rave about this, I knew I needed to pick up this cleanser staple and give it a go. At first use it feels like a pretty standard cold cream type cleanser, and actually reminds me of a drugstore cleanser that I used during high school – so stay tuned for a possible dupe post for this once I do some further research.
The hardest thing for me to get used to doing so far has been using the muslin cloth, while it feels a little strange, I’ve been trying to incorporate it no matter which cleanser I’m using. Mostly because I’ve found that I get way less water splashed around my sink/counter area. (Birchbox has a couple of great starter sets for this, found here).
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers
I don’t know about you guys, but I typically won’t buy from a brand site – I much more prefer to just order from my tried and true favorites that stock everything. Even more so when I really only want to order one item from the brand and it doesn’t cost enough to meet the free shipping minimum. Since it’s crazy hard to get ahold of anything from Shu Uemura in the States now unless you order from their site itself, when I walked into Selfridges I beelined straight to the Shu Uemura counter for these babies. They are seriously worth every penny. They don’t pull or tug at your eyelashes, I have yet to pinch my eyelids, and boy does it give me a curl. So so so much better than my $5 pair that seemed to pull out a significant portion of my lashline.
When I got back I came home to a major bathroom remodel. Everything that had been in my bathroom under my sink, on my baker’s rack shelves, and anything sitting on any available ledge, had been dutifully packed into boxes and put in my room. Cue not being able to find anything and slowly trying to find a new place in the new setup for everything. With the sheer amount of products I have, especially with new additions, it was most definitely an undertaking (that I’m still kind of working on – but I’m getting there).
