This month’s Ipsy bag theme was “Girl Meets Glitter”, which is perfect for the upcoming holiday season! For everyday wear, I totally shy away from anything dewy or glittery, but all bets are off from Halloween to New Years.
➥ Be A Bombshell Eye Base in Submissive
➥ Elizabeth Mott You’re So FINE eyeliner in Glitterati
➥ J. Cat Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion
➥ Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray
➥ Temptu S/B Highlighter
All about that base, ’bout that base, no trouble. Yeah, I had zero problems with the Be A Bombshell eye base. I still used eyelid primer underneath it, but it’s a great warm nude to use by itself for just a hint of color. It also blends amazingly when you use it under other eyeshadows. All in all, it simply does what it says it does and I’m pretty happy with it.
I’ve been all about the cat-eye recently and have really been getting into non pencil eyeliners. The Elizabeth Mott eyeliner is pretty fine. I adore the formula, it seems to dry a little rubbery and lasts quite awhile even when I forget to use eyelid primer. The color is also super dark, dries slightly glossy, and has specks of glitter but isn’t overwhelming with it. After reading through some of the other comments on the Ipsy page, it seems like I’m the only one who isn’t a fan of the applicator. The “micro-tipped” brush and I just didn’t get along well, I definitely prefer a felt tip for more clean lines. Unfortunately this means I’m just not going to use it much despite how much I like the formula. I may try wiping some onto an angled brush and see how that works.
Maybe it’s because I’ve never used anything from J. Cat beauty that I’ve liked before. Maybe it’s because I had really low expectations for a lip paint. I mean is a “paint” a stain? A lacquer? A gloss? Maybe it’s also because I didn’t think it would even compare to my assortment of favorite red lip HGs. Whatever IT was, I was pretty much blown away with how much I liked this product. First of all, it swatches as more of a berry than it does a red. It’s also really versatile color wise. I usually opt for only swiping on enough to use it as a stain, but you can add more for a nice glossy look if you’re into that kind of thing. Staying power is decent, but as I am ALWAYS drinking some sort of tea, or coffee, or other beverage, my lip products get judged on a per cup basis instead of a per hour basis. This seems to be about five cups of tea worthy. My only complaint is that it didn’t come with an applicator, so I’ve been applying it with a qtip. /=
Hairspray is just not a product that I use very often, I much prefer oils, serums, and creams. That being said, this one from Marc Anthony smelt wonderful! It did not smell overly alcoholly like some others I’ve dabbled with have. The hold seems decent, but once again, not using hair spray ever – I have little to compare it to…
I wasn’t that excited about the Temptu highlighter as it’s a very pinky/pearly color. However, as you can see (or rather can’t really see) from the swatch above, it doesn’t leave much of the color and acts more as a light reflector. It does not seem to blend well with my foundation though, it kind of removes it and makes my face look patchy.
