To our awesome Stateside readers (and to those abroad that celebrate it too), we hope you had as great of a Thanksgiving as we did! So much great food, and time well spent with family! Definitely hard to keep up with photos and postings when being ambushed by toddlers though!
I was a little meh about this box overall (though I did just see the spoiler of next month’s contents and am crazy excited to get that in the mail soon)!
➥ Alterna Caviar Omega Oil
➥ Calvin Klein Reveal
➥ LORAC Cobra Mascara
➥ Malin + Goetz Bergamot Body Wash
➥ MDSolarSciences MD Creme Mineral Beauty Balm SPF 50
I’m just going to come out and say it, the packaging on the deluxe Alterna hair oil sucks balls. While I was one of the lucky ones that didn’t have it leak all over the other contents, the little dropper was still defective and didn’t work. I resorted to just pouring it out in my palm and eyeballing it. Sometimes I ended up with too much product, sometimes not enough. Alex was not quite as lucky when she received her box, where all of the other products were well nourished with omega. Quick plug for Beauty Bar’s AMAZING customer service though; they were very responsive when Alex tweeted her tragedy at them and immediately put a new sample in the mail for her. Which she got yesterday, without further incident. As for the oil itself, I like it sooooooo much better than Alterna’s hair cc cream. It’s very nourishing without weighing your hair down, and it smells great. It’s pretty viscous for an oil, which I think is nice because it’s a little easier to direct where you’d like to apply it. Wish the full-size had a pump instead of a stopper, or really any other packaging.
I have yet to like a Calvin Klein fragrance. That pretty much sums that up.
The Lorac Cobra mascara is a really decent no-mascara-mascara, if that makes sense. On my lashes, it looks super natural in a ‘my lashes but better’ way. It is a little lengthening, doesn’t clump, and hasn’t flaked on me yet. However, I’m all about the volume when it comes to mascara, and this just didn’t have it like some of the others do.
Bergamot is quite possibly one of my favorite scents, there is just something so soothing and comforting about it. Malin + Goetz in general is great for sensitive skin, the body wash in particular isn’t drying at all, which is nice with the colder weather lately. Apparently you can also use this as bubble bath as well! If anyone wants to get me the fullsize for Christmas, I wouldn’t be upset =D
I haven’t been using the MDSolarSciences bb cream much since it’s a little too light colored for my skin tone right now and washes me out. The finish is really nice and (fluffy?), it actually reminds me a lot of the Sarah Mcnamara Miracle Skin Transformer. The coverage is fairly light, but it does have SPF 50 and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all. It kind of glides on to the point where you likely wouldn’t need a face primer. The only real downside I can see with this is the limited shades as you can only choose from Light/Medium and Medium/Dark.
