I was pleasantly surprised when I got my Allure Box (You keep trying to make #TheBeautyBox happen, I don’t know if that hashtag is gonna happen) this month. Not because of the contents, or because of the fact that I got it a week earlier than normal, but because I forgot I had already updated my mailing address and was expecting to have to wait until I went home for Thanksgiving to pick it up.
Not pictured as it’d been hiding amongst the crinkle paper and I didn’t notice it until I almost accidentally recycled it… was a little bottle of Bumble & Bumble All Style Blow Dry Cream. I also haven’t actually had a chance to test this guy out because I’ve been trying out a new hair stylist. Because it’s a multi-step color correction deep end dive – I haven’t washed my own hair at home since the box arrived in the mail. Oops. In time. It’ll happen. But honestly, based on all of their other blow dry creams I expect it to have decent results.
I was really excited when I saw that familiar looking tin in my box, utterly less so when I opened the tin and saw the color. Cargo Eye Shadow in Oz is a really rich mustardy yellow. Packaging? Great. Fallout? Mild. Pigment? Pretty standard. Blending? Brilliant. Color? I’m actively trying to think of a Halloween costume to tie this into because I don’t think I’ll really ever use it outside of this spectacular holiday.
I had never heard of the brand Red Flower before, let alone their Lymphatic Phytopower Sea Cleanser And Masque. Remember to take a breath after reciting that name too. I often bite off more than I can chew. Partially to challenge myself, partially since I am a habitual procrastinator who thinks sleep is not as necessary as my body thinks it is. So anything that claims to be a good multi-tasking product piques my interest. I’ve been plopping this on my face prior to getting in the shower, letting it sit/soak in while I do showery things, and just before getting out, finally rinsing it off. It doesn’t feel stripping or leave my face feeling tight. I still prefer cleansing oils for a first step, but think this might make a solid appearance as my second cleanser in the future.
I can always use some more body lotion. Though the problem is me actually applying routinely. I’ve read so much about the brand Rituals and was stoked to finally give it a go. Man, is the Ginkgo’s Secret Ginseng & Ginkgo Biloba Hand Cream a dense cream. Though it claims to be non-greasy, it does feel a little greasy on my hands. I’ve had much better luck using it as a body lotion instead. The scent is nothing to write home about, but my legs drank up the moisture and my knees are much less, well for lack of a better descriptor, scaly and gross.
I’m going to keep my opinion on the Jouer Daily Repair Treatment Oil short and sweet. I like it just as well as their Clarifying Treatment Oil. All around good facial oil if you’re into them.
I know of Kryolan more for their stage and special effect makeup, less so for what I consider more standard variety makeup. I was happy I had a lipstick brush to actually apply this little trio though. It lasts quite a while, applies nicely, and has vitamin E so it’s not too drying for a matte finish. I’ve been loving the fuchsia color on the far right, it’s called Nike and it’s wonderful.
