October flew by, and now half of November has too. Eech. Fall officially feels in swing, and as a Portlander, I am not proud to admit this, but I am loving the new Chestnut Praline latte from Starbucks… Quick give me a flannel shirt and an artisan-espresso-stout-microbrew so I can regain points.
With the season change and the weather getting colder, my skin and lips are getting drier. The dark matte formulas I’ve been favoring lately make my lips look like the Sahara in the summer. Which is why I’ve been reaching for the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish more and more. A little goes a long way, and the sugar crystals aren’t overly abrasive. I love how moisturizing the oil and shea butter after you wipe away the sugar crystals. The smell doesn’t hurt either, it totally smells like snickerdoodles or sugar cookies.
After seeing everyone rave about Maybelline Age Rewind, I picked it up in the color Light. I was a little wary of the applicator at first, but I love it, and it makes it super easy to use as an under-eye brightener, and as a highlighter for contouring. My only complaint is that the click up dispensing is a little touch and go. Sometimes two clicks delivers a lot of the formula, and other times it doesn’t. However, at less than $10 a bottle, it’s so far from a deal-breaker.
I got the L’Occitane Amande Hand Cream in one of those trio packs from Sephora a while ago. While I really liked how nourishing the shea butter formulas of the other ones were, it took me forever to get through them because the formula was also too think and did not absorb well. The amande/almond formula though is absolutely perfect! It smells divine, absorbs nicely, and doesn’t leave a film on your hands.
One of my favorite things about checking out the NYX section at Ulta, is there always seems to be some sort of sale going on. The prices are great anyway, but when there is a buy one get one half off going on… Hubba. So when I ran out of my favorite setting spray, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try out NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. I’m pretty certain it can be classed as a dupe for the Urban Decay setting sprays, and at half the price, I’m extremely happy with it!
The Beauty Blender Solid was one of those impulse purchases while you’re standing in line at Sephora, surrounded by all of those cute minis. It’s essentially a little soap puck in a plastic container, and you just wet your beauty blender or your brush and swirl it around on the puck. It makes cleaning brushes super fast and easy, just wished drying them were this quick. It does appear to be sold out on Sephora, but you can still get it in the Beauty Blender + Benefit kit (here).
