If you know me, you know that my favorite color is Tiffany Blue, very closely followed by any sort of turquoise shade. I also like quilted patterns/textures. Tl;Dr: I really liked the actual Ipsy makeup bag that all of my samples were housed in. While it’s much too small for my daily or general bag, it’s going to replace the one currently bouncing around my gym bag. Yay! But on to the October goodies:
➥ Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths
➥ Starlooks Lip Gloss in Guilty Pleasure
➥ H2O+ Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment
➥ Ayres Patagonia Body Butter
➥ Jesse’s Girl Mineralized Baked Shadow Powder in Ocean Breeze
I have always liked the idea of cleansing wipes, but in practice they never seem to work well with my skin. The Soap and Glory ones I popped in my basket at Sephora on a whim? Hives. All. Over. My. Face. Mind you this was supposedly a sensitive formula and I’d read rave reviews from others. However, not for me. Others just don’t seem to do a good job at removing stuff – and I end up with a blemish that is big enough to warrant starting a college fund and naming. So when I looked in my Ipsy Glam Room and noticed there were facial wipes, I was dubious about the whole affair. On the other hand, Skyn Iceland has never served me wrong. Low and behold, a week after getting that shiny pink metallic package in the mail, my packet was entirely gone. The cleansing part was gentle, but still effective. It was fragrant, but not overpoweringly so. The only thing I don’t like is that it leaves a bit of a sheeny residue behind, so even though it says you don’t need to wash it off, you might want to if you aren’t going to use any other products over it. Definitely repurchasing to keep in my gym bag. You can find the Glacial Cleansing Cloths over at Skyn Iceland’s website here.
I’m not a big lip gloss girl. It is few and far between that I actually stumble across one that I like. Overall I was pretty meh about the Starlooks Lips Gloss. The Guilty Pleasure shade was a nice nudey-pink… but being a gloss, it was glossy, and sticky, and my hair kept getting plastered to my lips. It could honestly be the best lip gloss formula ever, and I still probably wouldn’t like it much. The one thing I did like about it – it smells like vanilla. If you ARE a gloss person, you can find the full size on their website here.
I have like four night treatments open and rotating right now. I really need to just pick one, and stick to it until it’s empty. Brief overview of the H2O+ Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment: It did exactly what the name says. It is super-duper hydrating. Being a gel, it applys very smoothly and is oil free. Only downside? It dries a little tacky if you’re a bit heavy handed and apply a wee bit too much. I did wake up with really soft skin though. Ultimately, I’d say it works better as a sleep pack/night mask than as a daily moisturizer. You can find it at Ulta, here.
First impression on Ayres Patagonia Body Butter: HOLY GOODNESS THIS STUFF SMELLS AMAZEBALLS. Seriously, jasmine and rosemary, with a slight undertone of lavender and bergamot? I would totally wear this scent as a perfume. Now I’m a little fanatic about body lotions and oils, not in a ‘it puts the lotion on it’s skin or it gets the hose again’ way, but more in a ‘my skin generally likes to imitate sandpaper unless I baby it’ way. So this small sample went fast, it absorbed nicely and is super nourishing. I honestly would have loved if I would have just gotten five of these in my bag this month and nothing else. Found on their website here.
The Jesse’s Girl Mineralized Baked Shadow Powder in Ocean Breeze was another meh item for me. It’s just not a color I would use, in the packaging it’s a marbled sky and royaly blue, but when swatched it’s really shimmery and only moderately pigmented. I’m sure others loved it, it’s just not for me. They do have a few other colors and are super cheap, so if you fancy taking a look at the other options you can find them on their website here.
