With as many lipsticks as I’ve tested out over the past few months, Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick has eluded me. It’s not like it’s difficult to get a hold of, but I just hadn’t given it much thought. Well, Birchbox did something a little different this month – everyone was going to get a deluxe sample of Stila, you could either choose the curated box with one of the colors – or pick a different color you wanted as a sample choice.
I’m not gonna lie, it pained me not to pick the curated box because I wanted to try out that travel sized Oribe spray like the dickens. But not as much as I wanted the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso. I mean look at it, how gorgeous is that color?! Plus the staying power is no joke. I applied it Sunday morning, waited it to set, and then went about brunching it up. It lasted through two Bloody Mary’s and an avocado-poached-egg-toast. Magic. I will also note that I did not use any kind of lip liner as a base. That will be next weekend’s test – I will probably tweet about it.
I joke about my gazillion step skincare a lot, but as much as I complain about the involvement of it all, I always regret it when I slack off. One thing that has really been a step up in my overall complexion the last couple of months is totally using more serums and oils. Plus I love the little bottles because they take up absolutely zero room on my counter and are great for repurposing once they’re empty. </Fluff> But, the Jouer Clarifying Treatment Oil is pretty great. It’s hydrating, smells great, and has a nice viscosity to it. It does take quite a while to sink in – even when only using 1-2 drops, so I def recommend using it only as a PM thing.
There have been some great Supergoop! products that I have loved. I’m quite a fan of their sunscreen wipes, and most recently from my Allure Beauty Box, their Rosemary Setting Spray. However, the CC Cream was a total miss. It might be because I just don’t usually get along with BB/CC creams except in very specific cases, but the formula was just too heavy, didn’t blend out that well, and made my face feel sweaty/tacky all day.
I go through a lot of body lotion. Unfortunately, it’s totally not consistent. I will remember to apply it morning and night for like a good week straight, and then forget about it for like a month. Pretty sure my skin hates me for it. It’s also why the cabinet under my sink is filled with half-used bottles. Good news is that was not the poor fate of the Key West Aloe Save A Tan sample I got. Pretty happy I discovered this gem. It smells great, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t hurt that it’s main ingredient is aloe (~80%). Holla.
(Not so) fun story, when I doused my hair with the Amika spray, I thought it was their dry shampoo and not the Un.Done Texture Spray. Which explains why I was not impressed in the slightest the first day wearing it and felt like a complete idiot when I examined the can later. D’oh. Go figure, as a dry shampoo it sucks, but as a texture spray it does the job. I can’t decide if I like it better than my go to Oscar Blandi option, but so far it holds it’s own – even if it is a little more on the residue side.
